Hey ya’ll. I’m Jay. Nice to meet you.
Concerts and Music festivals are my favorite pastime. I have attended over 50 to date.
You can catch me trying a new coffee shop on a Saturday morning.
I enjoy lifestyle YouTube vlogs and mental health podcasts.
You’ll never spend time with me without bending over in laughter.
I hoard candles. It’s a problem.
Plant mothers are mothers, too.
I have performed poetry and sang original music in front of audiences.
I will ALWAYS suggest Karaoke at a party. My first choice will ALWAYS be Beyonce.
I will try any cultural cuisine at least once.
I am a legally blind, disabled, working professional & you can be too.
Sometimes, we fall into things that allow us to step into our purpose. In my instance, I tripped into disability advocacy by shear life experience. It wasn’t a perfectly paved path.
After being diagnosed with a degenerative eye disorder leading to legal blindness, and finding frustration in the challenges I had to endure due to systems I felt were inadequate in providing quality service, I studied Psychology and obtained a Master’s in Vocational Rehabilitation that assisted in cultivating my passion for the independence of persons with disabilities.
As a result, I have been pleasured with the opportunity to serve disabled individuals from numerous cultures, socioeconomic statuses and abilities as a Nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Social Security Vocational Expert Consultant, Veterans’ Benefits Professional.
With over a decade of professional dedication, I am committed to the forward progression of those who are often unseen, unheard and underserved.
My service to you, as your disability consultant … is personal.
A VERY Candid approach
Are you tired of useless training, that doesn’t provide you insight into REAL solutions for your clients? Maybe, sick of feeling lost about what resources work best for you or your child? OR SHOOT, exhausted with waiting on inundated systems to provide you with quality service?
Systems built to help assist persons with disabilities with avenues towards independence are often hard to navigate for the people living with the conditions and those who have dedicated their lives to assisting. Here at The Sighted Guide Consulting, I strive to provide you with solution-focused, tangible resources, and palatable ways to navigate them so that you become the most informed disability advocate possible.
